A reflection about faith and obedience.
I started ghostwriting as my form of ministry.
Why?
Because writing is what I’m good at.
And because I wanted to help people in their walk with God.
We’re all told we’re supposed to be adding to the Kingdom and spreading His love, but a lot of us look in the mirror and think, I’ve got nothing to offer, though.
So let me ask you this:
What do you have in your hand?
God doesn’t need you to have a master’s degree.
He doesn’t need you to be impressive.
Honestly, He doesn’t even need you to be confident.
He just needs obedience.
He already made you. He already knows what you’re capable of — even if you don’t.
Let’s talk about Moses for a second.
This guy parted the Red Sea.
He led the Israelites out of Egypt.
He stood up to a literal Pharaoh — someone who could’ve had him killed on a whim — and didn’t back down.
But what we tend to forget is that Moses absolutely doubted himself.
When God first called him, Moses was basically like, But they’re not going to believe me.
And God said, What do you have in your hand?
Moses was holding a staff.
So God was like, Cool. Watch this.
And He turned it into a snake.
Then He said, Hold out your hand.
Boom. Leprosy.
Then — just as fast — healed it again.
Basically, God was saying, See? I’ve got you. They’ll believe.
And Moses?
Still unsure.
Still nervous.
He goes, I don’t talk well.
And God, very lovingly and very patiently, basically said, You’re overthinking this. But fine. I’ll give you a buddy.
So He gave Moses Aaron to be his voice, and told them both they’d be guided by the Holy Spirit.
Here’s the thing, though:
God didn’t actually need Aaron.
He didn’t need the staff.
He didn’t need any of it.
He just needed Moses to listen and do what He was told.
So again — what do you have in your hand?
What is God already ready to use, if you’d just let Him?
For me, it was writing.
I know God gave it to me for this reason. So, I write the life stories of people who can’t write them themselves. I write for people who’ve been through loss, grief, and hard seasons and somehow made it through. I write for people who’ve lived quiet, steady lives full of wisdom and peace.
I do this because I know that these stories are powerful.
They show people that peace is possible.
That rest is possible.
That God is still with them.
Even the people who’ve been hurt by religion. Same, sis.
I have stories for you, too. Stories that show God isn’t about any of that. He wasn’t behind your hurt, and He’s ready to help you heal.
This work is my ministry.
It’s what I know.
It’s what I can do well.
And it’s where I trust God to move.
