Short Story Publication: What The Walls See in Poiema Magazine

A Short Story of Mine Was Published: What The Walls See

I’m excited to share that one of my short stories has been published in the second issue of Poiema Magazine.

Seeing a story leave your desk and become part of something larger alongside other writers is always a strange and wonderful moment. Writing can feel so quiet and solitary while it’s happening, and then suddenly the words are out in the world.

The story I have included in this issue is called What the Walls See.

It began as a simple writing challenge, but it quickly grew into something more personal. The piece explores the contrast between what happens in a place during moments of worship and what that same space quietly witnesses afterward. Through the perspective of the room itself, the story reflects on faith, performance, private grief, and the conversations people have with God when no one else is around.

In the story, the walls observe both the beauty of communal worship and the raw honesty of someone returning alone later that night to wrestle with God in the silence. The room becomes both sanctuary and witness.

I’m grateful to the editors at Poiema Magazine for including my work in this issue alongside other writers.

The magazine is available as a pay-what-you-can download, so if you’d like to read the issue or support the publication, you can find it here.

If you end up reading it, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.

If you’re new here: I write about faith, healing, and the beautifully messy human experience. You can explore more stories here →
